Filming has begun on the fourth series of popular Bath-based detective drama McDonald Dodds, starring Tala Gouveia and BAFTA award-winner Jason Watkins.                                                                                                                                        Comprising three feature length films (3 x120), the guest cast for the first story includes Toby Stephens (Lost In Space), singersongwriter Pixie Lott (The Voice Kids), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack), Daniel Lapaine (Catastrophe), Dipo Ola (Landscapers), John Gordon Sinclair (Gregory’s Girl) and Ace Bhatti (Line of Duty).                                                                                                                                        In this first film, McDonald and Dodds begin to investigate when a middle-aged woman is found shot dead in a rented flat. The killer has removed all clues to her identity, but DNA reveals she went missing over 35 years ago. Where has she been all those years And who with                                                                                                                                        Returning to the cast this series are Claire Skinner (Outnumbered) who plays Chief Superintendent Ormond and Charlie Chambers (EastEnders) who plays DC Goldie. Bhavik C. Pankhania (World On Fire) joins the line up as DC Lee.                                                                                                                                        The series has been commissioned for ITV by Polly Hill and Huw Kennair Jones and will be produced by Joe Shrubb. Executive producers are Robert Murphy, Damien Timmer and Charlotte Webber. The first film is written by Robert Murphy and directed by Khurrum M. 该片以抗日战争为背景，讲述了杨靖宇将军及抗联战士们为传承革命薪火与日军殊死搏斗，誓死保护“铁血少年队”队员撤离秘营，在极寒环境和残酷战斗的双重打击下，这些英雄们为救下那个仅有13岁的女孩，不畏牺牲奋勇杀敌，最终壮烈牺牲的故事。

1942年，日本侵略者对重庆的大轰炸已经进入了第四个年头。侵华日军总司令冈村宁次意外的得到一个情报：在重庆西南的古刹华岩寺中藏有一件镇寺之宝--《贝叶金经》，在这部经书中还隐藏了一个惊天秘密。如果得到了这个秘密就可以让日军轻而易举的消灭整个国民党政府，以实现其占领全中国的狼子野心。为了得到《贝叶金经》，冈村宁次精心策划了一次代号“阿波罗”的作战行动，他特别派遣了由日本浪人组成的，日军王牌特工队“樱花小组”秘密潜入重庆，偷偷的把黑手伸向了西南第一古刹--华岩寺。通过各种渠道得知日军特工潜入重庆的消息后，为了粉碎日寇的阴谋，中共地下党组织、国民党中的爱国人士与华岩寺众僧侣与“樱花小组”展开了殊死搏斗，最后他们用鲜血和生命终于将《贝叶金经》完好无损的保护了下来。1942年，抗日战争进行到了非常艰苦的僵持阶段。日寇飞机对国民党中央政府的陪都重庆进行疯狂大轰炸已经是第四个年头了。刚刚得到天皇嘉奖的侵华日军总司令冈村宁次，意外获知了一个可以轻而易举消灭国民党中央政府的秘密，并已根据这个情报制定了代号“阿波罗”的详细计划。而且冈村宁次还亲自挑选了，代号“樱花小组”的特工小组，来完成这一计划。“樱花小组”是日军最王牌的特工行动小组。它的成员包括：光、明子、美亚和阿之四个年轻貌美的女孩子，还有一个总是黑纱罩面的小组首脑--“樱花一号”：藤原爱，她的另一重身份是天皇御妹！樱花小组这次的任务，是要到重庆市郊的古刹“华岩寺”里，盗取那儿的镇寺之宝《贝叶金经》1942年的一天，在重庆国民党军统局，局长办公室里，军统局长戴笠看着刚刚截获的一封日军密电，不知为什么，他预感到正有一场血雨腥风就要在自己身边爆发！这天，日寇飞机突然一改重点轰炸重庆市区的惯例，而是把炸弹扔在了重庆郊外的西南第一古刹“华岩寺”周围。这时惊慌逃散的人群中有一位衣着雅致端庄的中年夫人不停的大喊：“不要乱跑，快趴下！”并把一个孩子挡在身下，这时候一颗炸弹在她身边爆炸了。这位夫人被方丈怀空大师救起。原来她是东北军抗日将领解望东将军的遗孀施绪萍，从东北逃难至此，现在住在山脚下帮寺里浆洗衣物干杂活为生的柳氏、小叶子母女家。施夫人谢绝了怀空大师让她留在寺中调养的好意，带着丫鬟小凤回到了山脚下暂住的小叶子家。日本人这次不寻常的轰炸引起了“华岩寺”上下的警觉，怀空大师怀疑日本人是想偷镇寺之宝《贝叶金经》，并嘱咐爱徒赵云龙和智青严加防范。戴笠来到华岩寺，转达了蒋介石想在观音诞日来华岩寺作一场“护国息灾大法会”的事，怀空大师答应了下来。一天深夜，云龙和智青在大雄宝殿抓到一个偷东西的贼。经审问，那贼居然是想来投《贝叶金经》。得知经书没有丢失后，怀空大师为免多生事端，名众人将贼放走。那贼刚出山门不远便被一黑衣人一刀杀死。
